Handmade Bread Cutting Guide — Electric Knife Friendly
I’ve been baking sourdough for a long time, and while there’s nothing better than a fresh loaf, I always struggled with the slicing part. I prefer using an electric knife to get through those tough, crusty sourdough skins, but standard bread guides are almost always too narrow. The blades end up rubbing against the plastic, making it a mess to clean and frustrating to use.
I decided to solve that problem by designing this Handmade Bread Cutting Guide. I made the distance between the uprights extra-wide specifically to accommodate the reciprocating motion of an electric knife. No more binding, no more rubbing.
The real “secret” to this guide, though, is the Raiser Pins. When you bake a great loaf, you want to cut all the way through it, but usually, you have to stop just short to avoid sawing into the bottom of your guide. By using these pins, the loaf is lifted just enough off the base so your knife can pass completely through the bread without ever touching the guide. It keeps the base like new and makes your slicing much faster and more stable. It’s a practical tool I built for my own kitchen, and I think it’ll make your post-bake cleanup a lot easier too.
